How to Set your Notification Preferences

Notification preferences allow you to select how and when you want to be notified when various events occur within your courses. You can be notified whenever there is a change in a due date, an updated assignment, or a message sent from within Canvas.

Contact Methods 

In Canvas you can add contact methods to receive notifications. Contact methods allow you to select how you want to be notified when various events occur within a course. Your notification preferences indicate how you want to be notified of things such as:

  • new messages,
  • announcements, and
  • discussion postings.

You will always receive the information in Canvas, but you can also elect to receive notifications to your UTTyler email address, a personal email address, your cell phone, or Twitter.

The settings are global; they apply to all your Canvas courses.
